A Word From Jim Gibson (does genealogy):                         

Dear Cousins:  This year I have spent some time searching for the details of how our ancestors James Jones and Elizabeth Funnell lived and traveled from London to Meade, MI in 1832.  The idea that James was traveling on a wonderful vacation with every intention of returning home to England has been strengthened by a recent discovery.  On examining the ships passenger manifest of 137 passengers we see James near the end, as if he were on of the last passengers to board.  He is listed as age 28, from England and his occupation is “Shoe Maker”.  However, on further examination, we see the name directly below his is Benjamin Ward age 24, from England, also a shoe maker.  So these two young fellows, both shoe makers, were obviously traveling together.  Did Benjamin Ward also find a girlfriend on the ship?  Did he also elect to stay in America?  Or did he return to England to carry on the business of shoe making that he shared with his buddy James?

At the 156th reunion we had 41 people attend.  It was a lovely sunny 75-degree day with a gentle breeze.  Here are the stats:
